Frequently Asked Questions
How old do I have to be to skydive?
Everyone who skydives with us must be at least 18 years old and have a valid government issued ID. There are no exceptions to this rule (Sorry, parental consent doesn't help under Wisconsin law). There is no upper age limit as long as you are in good health.
Is there a weight limit?
The normal weight limit is 230 lbs (with clothing and shoes). If you are heavier than this but still reasonably proportioned, we have instructors who can take people up to 245 lbs for an extra charge. The weight limit for AFF students is 230 lbs, no exceptions.
Do I need to make a reservation?
Yes, reservations are required for both tandem and AFF jumps. It also helps us plan ahead if you schedule your video in advance. We cannot always guarantee that video will be available on the day of your jump if not pre-booked.
How early should I arrive?
When you make your reservation, our office staff will give you a check-in time. You do not need to arrive any earlier than this time.
How long will it take?
Tandem students should plan on spending up to 4 hours with us, while AFF students should plan on spending the entire day.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing that is weather-appropriate (remember, we jump year-round) and athletic shoes that tie (no "quick-laces"). We have jumpsuits available for you to wear, and we will provide any other necessary equipment (e.g., goggles, gloves, etc.). If you wear glasses, we have goggles that fit over them so you can see in freefall.
Can everyone in my group jump together?
We cannot guarantee that everyone in your group will go on the same plane. There are many factors that affect how many jumpers are on each plane. Typically, your group can expect to be broken into smaller groups of 2 or 3 jumpers, depending on the day. This will give you and your friends the opportunity to watch each other gear up, board the plane, and land, and makes things go a little faster overall.
What if we get weathered out?
We do not jump if it is cloudy, windy, or raining, so your jump will be rescheduled appropriately. Sometimes the weather near us can differ from what is happening in other weather, so we will let you know if your jump has been weathered out. If you are unsure, call our office before you come out for your jump. If you don't arrive for your appointment and we are jumping that day, you will forfeit your deposit. AFF classes are held rain or shine.
Can I wear a camera on my jump?
Students (tandem or AFF) are not allowed to wear cameras on the jump. USPA recommends that licensed skydivers have at least 200 jumps before wearing a camera, as they can create distractions and snag hazards. We have trained videographers on staff who can jump with you and get that great shot to use as your profile picture.
Can my friends come and watch?
Of course! We have plenty of space for lounging, picnics, etc. However, we don't allow open alcohol before sunset, even if you are not jumping. Young children are welcome but must be supervised at all times. Please leave pets at home.
