What is AFF?

Well, you wild thing, our Accelerated Freefall (AFF) course trains you to become a licensed skydiver.

It all begins with a First Jump Course (FJC), which is typically held on a Saturday morning. We’ll give you necessary ground training before your first jump. The training typically covers the basics of equipment you’ll use, body positioning, parachute deployment, and emergency procedures. You’ll learn how to exit the aircraft, maintain stability during freefall, and deploy your own parachute.

In AFF, you’ll jump from 14K feet. Throughout the first few training jumps, you’ll be accompanied by two qualified instructors who jump with you to provide in-air guidance. The instructors hold onto you to help with stability and ensure a successful parachute deployment.

As you progress through the program, you’ll eventually jump with only one instructor and exit the plane without instructors holding onto you. Through this, you gain more independence and learn additional skills. You’ll gradually be introduced to more complex maneuvers, such as turns, flips, and formation flying, as you become more proficient in freefall.

The goal of AFF is to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to jump on your own. Once you successfully complete all the required jumps and demonstrate competence in various aspects of skydiving, you’ll take an online exam to demonstrate knowledge of technical aspects of skydiving thus far. If you pass, you receive your “A” license which allows you to skydive independently and with other licensed skydivers.

It's worth noting that while AFF is an accelerated training program, it still requires a commitment of time, effort, and financial resources.
